Zach, Rodney and Tyler at the lottery for “The Book of Mormon.”

It’s 11:35 p.m. Friday night. We have been running since about 9 a.m., and we’re exhausted. And sore. And blistered. And… did I mention sore?

We again headed into the city this morning to get rush tickets to Once. This was our second morning, and we were doing better on time, but the 7 was down for maintenance, so we had to hoof it halfway to Manhattan to catch our train. That wasn’t a good way to start the day. Especially since we skipped breakfast to get an earlier start.

For those who don’t know, Once is one of the hottest tickets on Broadway. It won eight Tony Awards this year. (See the story here.) With our train delay issues, we missed rush tickets. The box office person wanted to sell us $100 tickets, but we weren’t buying that.

Later, we tried two different lotteries for The Book of Mormon tickets, but for the second day, we weren’t successful there either.

Oh, well. That’s the way the game is played. We’ll just try again tomorrow.

While we waited for the lottery to close this morning, we started getting phone calls and text messages to see if we were OK. News of a shooter at the Empire State Building had everyone alert and curious about our safety. Needless to say, we’re all doing just fine… except for the blistered dogs.

We did, however, go on the NBC Studio Tour, which was well worth the money as I watched the boys marvel at sitting in the Saturday Night Live studio. They were awestruck, and I loved it.

I’d love to write more, but I’m falling asleep and don’t want to waste your reading time. I’ll write more later.

It’s a big day tomorrow. See if you can guess what it is.
